A step-by-step guide on getting an Alumawood patio cover with AlumawoodPatios.com - Murrieta, CA

Building an Alumawood patio cover is a beautiful extension to your home. It provides shade and shelter from the elements– giving you the perfect outdoor retreat. Whether you’ve done research on Alumawood patio covers or are just getting started, we will provide useful information for you. Every patio cover contractor does things a little differently, so in this guide we will talk specifically about our process and what you can expect when inquiring with us here at Alumawood Patios in Murrieta, California.

Step 1 - Are you ready?

The first step before inquiring with us is to determine if your property is ready for installation. Alumawood patio covers require a concrete foundation with a minimum of 4” thickness, and we recommend having your concrete poured before requesting an estimate. A new concrete slab will typically average between $6—$14 per square foot for standard flat work. Some soil conditions, as well as elevation changes, can increase the square footage cost.

We do not install on pavers or dirt, so once you have your concrete completed reach out to us! We can also assist if you need any recommendations for concrete companies.

Step 2 - Give us a call

Now that you have determined your property is ready for a patio cover installation, you can give us a call or fill out our contact form online. Some information we will need from you is:

  • What size patio cover are you interested in?

  • Will your Alumawood patio cover be attached to the home or freestanding?

  • Do you have a pool or any fixed structures like a BBQ or jacuzzi?

  • We will request images of your backyard so our estimator can take a look and point out any issues regarding your requests. In California, city and county codes require patio cover builds to maintain a certain distance from your neighbors and/or back property line.

  • We will need your address to take a look on satellite. We can get rough measurements if you’re not sure what size patio cover you’re looking for. This will also give us a better idea of any complications that may arise with your specific property.

Some additional information you can provide to us:

  • Do you have an existing patio cover? We offer demolition services and can include this cost in your quote.

  • Were you interested in adding fans or outlets to your Alumawood patio cover?

  • Are you interested in financing?

With these details, we will be able to provide you with a rough estimate of what your cost would be to install an Alumawood patio cover at your home. Our rough quote will include the cost of the building permit, accessory products, LED ceiling lights, and any add-ons or demo costs. If you wish to apply for financing, we can give you an idea of what your payment would be. You can also get pre-qualified for financing on our website.

Step 3 - Schedule your free estimate appointment

Once we have the green light from you after giving you your rough quote, we will move forward with scheduling your free estimate. Our office will send a text reminder the day before your appointment.

Step 4 - Your estimate appointment date

On the day of your appointment, our estimator will reach out to you via call/text to let you know when they’re headed to your home, if there are any delays, or if they’ll be able to arrive early.

Your estimate appointment is the best time to ask any questions about your Alumawood patio cover project. The estimator will be able to go into the specific requirements for your city or county building codes, what size patio cover you can build on your property, what style and color options you have, any add-ons like outlets, fans, exterior lights and accessories, where we would pull power from, information about your HOA, and more.

Once all of your details are finalized, you will be provided with your final quote. If you’re ready to commit to the Alumawood Patios experience, you can sign your contract with the estimator.

Step 5 - Tying up the ends

Once you approve your contract we will immediately get started and submit your plans for the permit. Time frames can vary depending on whether your home falls under city ordinance or Riverside County. The city typically approves permits faster, but when we experience delays, we personally visit the city/county office to get things moving along.

When permits are supplied to us, we can place the order for your patio cover materials. This typically takes up to a week. Once your materials are ready, we will get in touch with you to schedule your installation date! Most patio covers can be installed in a day. For larger patios or multiple patios, it will add another day to installation.

Upon the completion of your installation, we will put in a request to the city/county to schedule your inspection. You do not need to be present for inspection, but you will need to have the area accessible with no pets. If any electrical work is left exposed, we will return once the inspection is complete to close everything up for you.
